Shop Hop Fabric Available for Pre-Order Now!

Tuesday, February 12th, 2013

Shop Hop Fabric

Our shop hop fabric sample has arrived! In keeping with the shop hop theme “Quilting…It’s Our Passion,” the participating shop owners selected a sewing themed fabric by Timeless Treasures, and it is a lively, fun print! Fabric yardage is available for pre-order now. The fabric is $11.50 per yard, and must be pre-paid when you order. Pre-ordered fabric will be available for pick-up during or after the shop hop (March 14-17), and if we have any remaining we’ll make it available for general sale at that time. You may also place your pre-order online; please indicate in the Comments Section of your order if you plan to pick up the order at the shop, or if you’d like it shipped. We will ship pre-orders the week of March 18th, and applicable sales tax and postage will be added.

Call the shop to place your order before it sells out! Or better yet, stop by to see the fabric sample up close and in person, and take a look at the cute coordinating fabrics we’ve brought in to go with! We’re working on some cute samples, including a Classmate tote from Atkinson Designs, and some cute aprons. This fabric would make adorable curtains for your sewing room, too! Limited quantities of the Shop Hop fabric are available so don’t wait if you want it!

Does Your Santa Need Some Help?

Monday, December 10th, 2012

IMAG0712

Time is getting short for Santa to be shopping … and the Elves have been working very hard so Santa doesn’t have to. We’ve created a whole section of WRAPPED & READY GIFTS to help Santa out. Choose from a variety of stocking stuffers, books, kits, notions and gift items all beautifully WRAPPED & READY for Santa to take home and put under the tree. Of course, if you have something else on your wish list for Santa, we’ll be happy to wrap that, too! You could even buy something for yourself and put it under the tree … one surefire way to get what you want for Christmas! And if Santa still isn’t comfortable choosing a gift for you, a reminder that GIFT CERTIFICATES in any amount are always available will solve that dilemma!

We want to make sure you get exactly the quilt-y gifts you’ve been dreaming of under your tree and in your stocking! Tell Santa there’s no excuse … we’ve covered all the bases!

Reminder: Quilt Sampler “Sweet Celebration” Date Change

Friday, August 24th, 2012

SweetCelebration_500x700

Our Quilt Sampler Celebration was originally scheduled for August 25th, but we changed the date because we were concerned that our Quilt Sampler magazines would not arrive in time. Of course, the magazines were delivered the following day…oh well! We’re planning a blow-out party for Saturday, September 8th, and we’d love it if you could join us!

We just want to share our joy of being included in Quilt Sampler with you, and give you an opportunity to pick up a copy of the magazine and see our Quilt Sampler project, “Eye Candy,” up close and personal! Our suppliers have been extremely generous with product giveaways for the event, and we’ve put together a little surprise treat for everyone, too. Oh, and did I mention, we’re going to feed you?

I also want to put together a commemorative autograph quilt and we’d love to have your autograph included. Everyone who attends the party can sign a square on the spot! Even if you can’t attend, we’d still love to have your autograph if you’re a fan of Sweet Home! Just send us a 3 1/2” square of muslin with your signature and city/state, and we’ll include it in the quilt. (Remember not to write in the 1/4” margins!) Mail your square to us at 1004 Green St SW, Conyers, GA 30012, before September 25th, please!

We hope you’ll be able to join us for the festivities on September 8th!

~Melisa

(If you can’t come to the party and you can’t make it by the shop, both the Quilt Sampler magazine and the kit for our “Eye Candy” quilt project are available on our website!)

Quilt Sampler Magazines Have Arrived!

QS-F12_tn

The much-anticipated Fall/Winter issue of Quilt Sampler magazine with our feature article has arrived! It seems so surreal to actually have the magazine in my hands and be able to see the article and pictures that were done so long ago…well, not really that long ago…back in March! But it sure seems like we’ve waited forever!

I knew the minute I changed the date of our Quilt Sampler Top Ten Sweet Celebration that the magazines would show up, and sure enough, I was right! No matter, though! We’re still having a party on Saturday, September 8, so I hope you will come celebrate with us. We want your autograph for our commemorative quilt, and there will be lots of food and many, many giveaways thanks to the generosity and support of our wonderful suppliers. We’re planning a very special celebration to share our joy of being featured in Quilt Sampler, and as our way of saying thanks for your support and friendship these last seven years!

In the meantime, be the first to get a copy of the magazine to see our feature, and those of the nine other wonderful quilt shops featured in this issue (the magazine won’t hit the newstands for another two weeks!) Order your copy online, or call the shop and we’ll be happy to help. Kits for our featured quilt project are also available now, and can be ordered online or by calling the shop.

Now, I’m going to go put my feet up and read that article again!

Shop Notes: Never Buy the Wrong Fabric Again!

Tuesday, July 10th, 2012

One of our favorite finds at Spring Quilt Market was an ingenious product called Swatch Buddies™, and we’ve been anxiously awaiting the arrival of our order…and it’s finally here!

swatchbuddiesring

Swatch Buddies™ are reusable fabric swatch cards with adhesive labels, which allow you to create a flexible and portable ring of your fabric swatches. The adhesive labels have space to note yardage, designer, fabric collection, and even the quilt shop where you purchased the fabric! The cards are reusable (we also have the refill kits in stock), and are available in 12, 24 and 48 piece sets.

How many times have you bought fabric because you were sure it would be a good match, only to get it home and find out that it wouldn’t work with your other pieces? Think about it…if this product saves you from buying just one yard of mis-matched fabric you will easily have paid for it! Besides the obvious use, these little kits have all sorts of possibilities!

-Easily shop for multiple projects at the same time by creating a ring for each project.

-Create color palettes from your stash on separate rings, and leave blank cards in the positions on the ring that you need to shop for to round out your stash.

-Forget pulling out yards of fabric from your stash when auditioning fabrics for your project – just choose from the Swatch Buddies™ rings! What a time saver that will be…not to mention you won’t be creating a mess that you’ll have to clean up later!

-Is your stash stored in plastic bins or boxes? Attach a Stash Buddies™ ring to easily see the contents at a glance.

I’ve already started a couple of rings for myself and I’m sure there will be more in my future! What other uses can you think of?

Shop Notes: Heartfelt Home

Friday, June 15th, 2012

HeartfeltInspCollage

One of my favorite finds at Quilt Market is the Heartfelt Home collection by Wing and a Prayer Design and Timeless Treasures. The primary focus of the collection is two printed word panels, Heartfelt Celebration, focusing on the home and family, and Heartfelt Inspirations, with a focus on blessings and inspirational quotes. Each panel includes multiple project panels that can be worked into unique projects, which would be perfect for wedding gifts, housewarming gifts, or for those times when you want to give someone an uplifting gift…just because.

We have the panels available separately so you can create your own unique designs, and we also have kits available that include the individual panel and the companion pattern with project instructions from Wing and a Prayer Design.

Individual panels available here, and Kits are available here.

We return to our regularly scheduled programming…

Saturday, March 3rd, 2012

I think I’ve forgotten how to blog it’s been so long! I’ve been spending every spare moment planning our workshop with Terry Atkinson and working on new samples and displays for the shop and everything else has taken a back seat…shame on me! We’re in the home stretch now, though, with the workshop (sadly) behind us, and just about everything ready for the two quilt shows where we’ll be vending in March (you DO have the Heart of Georgia Quilt Guild’s Festival of Quilts and the Lake Oconee Quilt Guild’s Quilt-Fest on your calendar, right?) Preparations for Shop Hop are coming along so perhaps things will begin to get back to normal (whatever that is!) around here. I’m slowly, but surely getting caught up and I thank you for your patience!

We’ve had beautiful quilts brought in recently to share and I have been very remiss in getting these accolades posted…we enjoy seeing your projects so much, and just because I’m a lazy blogger, please don’t stop with the sharing!

Ann_Batik Honey BunAnn made this cheery scrap quilt from her Batik scraps…the strips finish at 1”!!!

Carolyn_baskets

Carolyn_geeseCarolyn has been busy! Love the two-color baskets quilt (I am itching to make a two-color quilt!), and those flying geese? Be still my heart! Wish I had a better picture of this quilt…it is gorgeous!

Claire_1st Quilt      Claire_2ndQuilt

I’m sure many of you remember Claire, who worked in the shop for a short while (until her husband up and whisked her off to Macon for a job transfer!). When Claire started working with us, she knew how to sew but did not quilt. In less than three months, she made her first quilt (on the left) using our Beginner’s Quilting program, and quickly moved on to her second quilt (on the right) which she made using a vintage fabric that had been gifted to her. She even modified the pattern to take best advantage of the fabric print! Smart girl…we sure miss her at Sweet Home!

Leiann_Texas2StepLeiann whipped out a Texas Two Step baby quilt for a gift in between finishing up her PhD projects!

Ruthanne_2011 BOMRuthanne finished her 2011 First Sunday Block Party Thangles BOM…you can finish quickly when you keep up with making the blocks each month…who knew? I love how this color selection turned out…it is the batik version and I wasn’t sure about it when I first picked out the fabrics, but I love how the dark block background makes those stars shine!

That’s all for this post. There is a lot going on around here, but some things I can’t share right now. I have pictures from the workshop with Terry, but since we were testing a new pattern for her I can’t post those yet. Teaser…you’re going to love her new design! And if you missed her workshop, we had a fantastic time…just sayin’!
