Merry Christmas!
Friday, December 24th, 2010Christmas Tour of Homes 2010
Saturday, December 18th, 2010One of the things I love most at this time of year are the hundreds of blog posts featuring Christmas decorations…you’ll see everything from the most simple and elegant to those that are really elaborate and over-the-top. I actually don’t mind the insomnia so much at this time of year because it gives me plenty of time in the wee hours of the morning to peruse the eye candy! I keep a notebook of ideas and I love finding the little hidden nuggets in these pictures that make me reach for my notebook to jot a note to myself or draw a little sketch of something I want to remember.
I’ve spent hours over the last week enjoying the Christmas Tour of Homes 2010 from Nester. There are over 700 homes on this blog tour! But don’t be tempted to skip any…you’ll be sorry! Find some quiet time over the next few weeks and enjoy the beauty…I have to go find another notebook!

There is no such thing as a useless scrap…
Saturday, December 18th, 2010so says our sweet customer, Louise, who brought us this clever and fun handmade Christmas card!
Each piece is just a little fabric snippet, and she fussy cut the holly leaves and berries from fabric she had on hand! So cute and so clever…I love it!
You might remember the Christmas card Louise made for us last year…I posted about it here. I treasure these cards from Louise because they are so beautifully made and I know they are made with love! I wish I was half as creative as Louise is!

Last Minute Gift Ideas
Friday, December 17th, 2010The clock is ticking…only seven more shopping days ‘til Christmas! If you still need a gift for a quilting friend (or maybe just for YOU!), we have some great ideas for you.
We have several quick kits for small projects that any quilter would love to have…
The Square Deal Centerpiece comes in two versions – a pieced charm square version and a single fabric version…each is 16” x 16”. Complete kit includes pattern, fabric, binding and backing for $11.99.
The Tilt ‘N Whirl is also 16” x 16”, and includes pattern, fabric, binding and backing for $14.99.
Kits are available here.
One of my favorite tools, the ScrapMaBob™ is a drink holder and trash bag in one. Keep your drink close by without worrying about spills or condensation. It holds up to a 32 ounce cup and attaches to most counter tops and tables (maximum table width 3.25”). The fabric trash bag is removable for emptying, and often gets used (so we are told) to hold snacks rather than trash. Frame is made of durable steel. A perfect gift for your quilting buddy (or yourself!) at just $21.99. Click here to order.
Did you know that we have never had a gift certificate returned because it was the wrong size or wrong color? It’s the PERFECT holiday gift, and we can issue one in any denomination. Tell Santa today!
We’re always happy to help you choose a gift, and gift wrapping is FREE! Call us or stop by soon and we’ll get you fixed up!

First Sunday Block Party Begins Feb. 6th
Friday, December 17th, 2010Come join the fun once a month at our First Sunday Block Party beginning Feb. 6th. We’re kicking off our latest Thangles BOM with a two-fer! Each month’s block kit will include the pattern and fabric to make two center blocks, which will be surrounded by a star setting. If you want to make the star sets as you go, you will want to purchase one of the finishing kits at the beginning of the program (or you may pick out your own fabrics.)
Choose from three color selections:
- Blue/Yellow
- Folk Art
- Firestorm
(Fabrics may vary from our sample blocks due to availability of fabric; we will make substitutions as necessary.)
Alternate Color Selections: Blue/Yellow or Firestorm (Batiks)
Registration fee is $12, which includes one package of 2” Thangles for the center blocks which will be included with the first block kit. Block kits are $1.00 per month, which could be free. You may opt to do more than one colorway, but only one set can be purchased for $1.00 per block; subsequent colorways will be $12 registration plus $3.00 per block kit.
Earn FREE BLOCK KITS when you make the block from the first kit you purchase, bring it to the shop between 1:00 & 1:15PM on the next month’s First Sunday, show it to us, and stay for a short demo/product review after which we’ll give you your next month’s block kit FREE! If you arrive after 1:15PM or can’t stay for the demo/review or if you miss a month, you may purchase the blocks for $5.00 each. Only one free block kit per person; subsequent colorways are $3.00 per block per month. If you send someone to pick up your block kit for you, the cost is $5.00. No exceptions, please.
Finishing kits are available for the Setting Stars ($34.99) and Border/Sashings ($44.99). Purchase both together and save 10% ($71.99). Finishing kits will be available in limited quantities. Finished quilt size is 67” x 94”. The Folk Art quilt is on display in the classroom, along with representative samples of the other two color choices.
If you don’t live close enough to join us for the First Sunday Block Party, this quilt will also be available online as a block of the month after March 1, 2010.
Register by January 25, 2010 and be entered to win a FREE complete finishing kit!
We hope you’ll join us. Where else can you get a monthly quilt pattern, new friends, learn new construction tips, see what everyone else is working on, be inspired, and the laughter…yes, we are cheap entertainment! You can’t go to the movie with your significant other and have a large buttered popcorn and soda for this low price of entertainment…and we’re a LOT more fun!

Wordless Wednesday
Wednesday, December 15th, 2010Gift Card Cozy Tutorial
Saturday, December 11th, 2010Here’s another cute idea that I found during my nocturnal wanderings around the web. Easy peasy and you’ve got plenty of time to whip these up for all those gift cards you’re giving this year!
Don’t limit these to Christmas time either…think about birthdays, anniversaries, thank you gifts, housewarming gifts…any occasion you might give a gift card calls for one of these cute cozies. So much better than just an envelope!
Enjoy!
