I’m still here…

sorry for my absence. I think I’ve recuperated from our blowout Fat Quarter Frenzy during Super Bowl weekend. We had so much fun with everyone, and sold a TON of fat quarters. Here are a few shots I took of the staff before we opened Saturday morning:

I apologize that some of the pics are a little blurry. We were a little punchy even before the “Frenzy” began and they had me laughing so hard at their antics I couldn’t hold the camera still!

As you can see we had bins set up on the long classroom tables that we filled with rolled fat quarters. Our customers tell us that digging through the bins is half the fun, and we had fun doing that, too,  while filling our online orders with just the right selection from the 8000+ fat quarters we had cut! Now, understand that we cut for this sale all year long, but when we did year-end inventory I discovered that we weren’t quite as far ahead as I’d thought so for the last several weeks there was a mad scramble to get more fat quarters cut and rolled so we’d be sure to have enough on hand. Everyone was mighty glad to see Super Bowl weekend roll around ’cause we’re sick of cutting and rolling fat quarters! I have to say a BIG thanks to Kris’ husband and son, Ken and Andrew, because they rolled just about all of the several thousand fat quarters we’ve cut since the end of December! Thanks guys!

We usually have hordes of customers waiting on the front porch at least an hour before we open. But I suspect because it was 22° Saturday morning, there were only about 20 diehards waiting when we opened the doors at 10AM; others were fast on their heels but not diehard enough to get here early and stand in the freezing cold to be first in line! Can’t say I blame them!  These ladies were some of the diehards who got here early!

We saw lots of customers that we only get to visit with occasionally so it is always nice to catch up with them, and we had a number of “Fat Quarter Frenzy virgins,” too! They were amazed at the selection of fat quarters available and the precision of having that many people in the shop at once. Hey, this is our third year so we’re “pros” when it comes to frenzying! I was bone-tired by Sunday evening, though, and only managed to watch part of the Super Bowl after I got home. I thought it was a pretty boring game so I went to bed right after half-time, and wouldn’t you know it turned into a really exciting game, which I missed! I got the play by play recap the next morning from Mike, though, so I wasn’t too disappointed.

If you missed Fat Quarter Frenzy this year, post a “note to self”  not to miss it next year!! It is always Super Bowl Weekend, and yes, you’re home in plenty of time to see the big game!
